Milano High School’s baseball season came to an end Friday afternoon with a 12-0 loss to Holland in Milam County.
Oscar Hernandez led at the plate with one hit in the bottom of the first inning.
Marcos Ruelas pitched for the Eagles, striking out three in 4.1 innings. Weston Avrett also pitched for MHS, striking out one in 0.2 innings.
LAST WEEK—Milano also faced HHS three days before, losing 9-1 to the District 27-2A runner up.
The game was close early until Holland scored four runs in the fourth inning, to stretch their lead from 2-0 to 6-0.
Julio Martinez and Bryson Richards each had hits with Martinez hitting a line drive to center field in the second and Richards getting a single on a ground ball to Hornet shortstop Cole Ralston.
Richards pitched five innings, striking out four. Avrett came in to pitch in the sixth inning, striking out one.
With a young team, Milano only loses Ruelas, Ryan Blakely and Chipper Gordon to graduation.
