Although the Lady Eagles opened up spring break with a 14-1 loss on the road, the young MHS squad is 2-2 in district play with wins over Holland and most recently Rosebud-Lott.

They beat the Lady Cougars on the road 11-6 after getting hot in the fourth and fifth innings scoring a combined seven runs with a pair of triples from Molly Ybarra and Aaliyah McBrewer. Ybarrra went three-for-five on the evening.

Laynie Rose, Natalie Compton, Toni Meyer and Shey Santana also had hits.

Meyer led from the circle with three strikeouts and didn’t walk a single batter in seven innings.

THIS WEEK—Milano faced undefeated Milam County neighbor Thorndale on Tuesday after press time and return to the dirt on Tuesday in Bartlett.

First pitch for the Lassies and the Lady Eagles is scheduled to be at 4 p.m.

EAGLES—On Friday, the MHS baseball team fell 8-5 to St. Joseph on the road in Bryan.

Milano rallied in the third with hits from Oscar Hernandez, Josh Millar, Bryson Richards and Ethan Gordon to go up 3-1.

However, it was the other team named the Eagles that left with the win as St. Joe’s scored four in the fifth and two in the sixth. MHS opened district last Tuesday with an 11-0 loss to neighbor Thorndale and faced the Bulldogs last Tuesday after press time. Like the Lady Eagles, the boys travel to Bartlett this week with a Thursday game starting at 10 a.m.

They also play the Bulldogs again on Tuesday in Milano.

Game time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
