After this weekend, Kyle King is one step closer to becoming a national champion in what was a career performance for the MHS grad.

In the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor’s 65-20 victory over Louisiana College, King completed 12 of 21 passes that accounted for 259 of the Crusaders’ yards and four touchdowns.

King also threw an 84-yard pass early in the third quarter, the fifth longest pass in the school’s history.

This is the first game this season in which King has seen the majority of the snaps as he has split time with Tommy Bowden and saw less snaps than the Brownwood native during their prior three games.

The win means that UMHB will play Abilene’s Hardin-Simmons University for the American Southwest Conference championship this Saturday at 1 p.m. at HSU’s Shelton Stadium in Abilene. The game is available to livestream on the UMHB football website. To stream, go to the football schedule, and next to the Hardin-Simmons game is a “Watch” option.

King is the son of Alvie and Wendy King, both of Milano.
