Eagles
The hard fighting Milano Eagles boys basketball team played against the Holland Hornets last Tuesday in Milano and suffered a heartbreaking loss with a final score of Holland 40, Milano 37.
COMING UP— The Eagles are now 0-2 in district play and were to travel to Flatonia Tuesday to play against the Bulldogs before coming back home on Friday to take on the Thrall Tigers.
Both the Flatonia Bulldogs and Thrall Tigers are 2-1 in district play.
The tipoff for the varsity game Friday is at 7:30 p.m.
Lady Eagles
These well-coached, hard-playing Milano Lady Eagles are getting it done. They are currently 14-9 on the season and 5-0 in district play.
Last week they had two wins against Holland and Hearne. On Tuesday they faced o ff a gainst t he L ady Hornets and won by a significant margin, the final score of this game was 44-11.
The Lady Eagles then traveled to Hearne and left with a 42-32 victory over the Lady Eagles of Hearne.
“We jumped out early in the game against Holland and had a 26-2 lead at half time,” said Head Lady Eagle Basketball Coach Matthew Hernandez.
“We were missing a key starter against Hearne but our team really stepped up,” he added. “We got off to a shaky start and were trailing 23-20 at the half but we bounced back, adjusted our play and allowed Hearne only one point in the fourth quarter. Our entire team continues to work hard everyday. We want to ensure we have a spot in the playoffs.”
COMING UP— These young women get a break on Tuesday before they host the Thrall Lady Tigers on Friday. Thrall is coming into town with a 4-0 record. This game will start at 4:30 p.m.
