The Mi lano Eag le s showed off in front of a home audience in their first district game this season. They won a decisive victory against the Bartlett Bulldogs. The final score was Milano 28, Bartlett 6.

The Eagles are 4-2 for the season and 1-0 in district play.

The Bulldogs scored first in the first quarter on a touchdown pass but their extra point kick was no good. The score was Bartlett 6, Milano 0.

It was not long until Milano’s workhorse junior running back Andres Ruelas ran five yards into the end zone to score Milano’s first touchdown of the night. He then made the extra point kick putting the Eagles ahead in the game, 7-6.

In the second quarter Milano’s Ruelas busted loose and ran 67 yards for another Eagle touchdown. He once again made the extra point kick and Milano took a greater lead with the score Eagles 14, Bulldogs 6.

Before half time, the Eagles scored on a 24-yard passing play. Junior quarterback Anthony Valdez connected with freshman running back Jesus Reyes for a touchdown. Eagle kicker Ruelas made the extra point and Milano was now ahead 21-6.

The t hi r d qua r t e r remained scoreless for both the Eagles and the Bulldogs.

Milano scored once in the fourth on another Ruelas running play. He plowed five yards into the end zone to finish off the night’s scoring. Ruelas made the extra point and the final score of this contest was Milano 28, Bartlett 6.

COMING UP— Milano will put it on the line next week on the road against the Iola Bulldogs. Iola is 4-2 over all and 0-1 in district play. The kickoff is at 7 p.m.

Milano Eagle head football coach Nick Moorehead said, “This is a big game for us. If we win it puts us in the playoffs. Iola plays a very physical game on defense. We need to take care of the football and play hard up front, if we do we will be alright.”
