The Milano Eagles earned their first win in district play after defeating the Bartlett Bulldogs 24-6. The Eagles are now 2-3 on the season.

“I thought we played with a ton of confidence,” MHS Head Coach Chad Lagrone said. “We were able to run the ball well and contain Bartlett’s offense. I was pleased with our performance.”

The Eagles got on the board first as Marcos Ruelas nailed a 33-yard field goal for the only points in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Bartlett’s Jared Cooper scored the first touchdown of the game on a one-yard run.

Milano would respond with star running back Josh Millar scoring a touchdown on a six-yard run. Milano led the game 10-6 at the half.

In the third quarter, Millar made his presence felt again by burning the Bulldog defense with a 53-yard touchdown run.

Millar would cap off his great performance with a three-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to seal the game.

Quarterback Ethen Knight went 6 of 10 for 78 passing yards in his first game coming back from an injury. Millar dominated the game with 189 yards on 23 carries and three touchdowns. Jayce Todd lead the Eagles in receiving with two catches for 63 yards.

On the defensive side, Jeremy Reyes led the Eagles in tackles with seven. The defense also forced two turnovers with Todd snagging an interception and Tyler Frank forcing a fumble.

The Eagles will look to earn their second win in district play as they prepare to face the Granger Lions on Friday at Granger.
