The Eagles are persevering through a season of heartbreak. Milano lost both of their games last week and they continue to remain winless in district play and only have one win overall this year. On Tuesday the Eagles lost 55-40 to Bartlett and Friday’s game against Holland finished with a final score of 67-30. The Eagles will travel to Hearne on Tuesday, January 30th and then return home to face the undefeated Thrall Tigers on Friday, February 6th. Both of these games have a 7:30 tipoff.
Lady Eagles
The Milano Lady Eagles are still winning. They are 9-1 in district play, sitting in second place behind undefeated Thrall.
According to Head Lady Eagle Basketball Coach Matthew Hernandez, they had one of their toughest weeks since district games started but they persevered and came out on top winning both games last week.
The Lady Eagles took on Bartlett at home and won 49-39. At half time Milano had a 20-point lead and it looked like it would be a blow out but Bartlett got serious in the second half and gave Milano a real fight.
Later in the week, they traveled to Holland and the Hornets put up some competition, almost making shot for shot. This game went into overtime and the Lady Eagles found a way to win even with a roster that was beat up due to players being absent and sick.
Coach Hernandez said, “This game was a great experience for us as we find ways to get better and find ways to overcome obstacles.”
COMING UP— Milano was to play Hearne at home on Tuesday and they are idle on Friday.
Their last district game before playoffs start is Feb. 6 at Thrall. The game will start at 4:30 p.m.
