The Milano Eagles basketball team is gaining ground towards the end of what has been a disappointing season.
The Eagles traveled to Thrall to take on the third place Tigers last week and lost 70-47, before they traveled to Thorndale to take on the undefeated, first-place Bulldogs and lost 54-25.
COMING UP— Milano was to wrap things up before a home crowd on Tuesday when the Granger Lions came to town. The Lions were 3-7 and currently in fifth place.
Lady Eagles
The Lady Eagles wrapped up their regular season last week against the undefeated and first-place Thrall Tigers losing 41-35. Milano had a great season and finished 10-2 and second place in their district.
COMING UP The Lady Eagles were looking forward to being matched up against an 8-5, third-place team in district, the Weimar Wildcats, in the bi-district round of the playoffs that was to start Tuesday in Giddings. (Results will be in next week’s Reporter.)
The Lady Eagles’ team has been led this year by standout players Kadance Koenig, Peyton Robinson and Malina Gordon.
Head Lady Eagle Basketball Coach Matthew Hernandez said, “The team has been playing very well and we are working hard to get what is hopefully a bi-district win.”
