Milano competed in the Regional Powerlifting Meet in Navasota last week. As a team, the Eagles placed second and three athletes will move onto the state competition in Abilene on March 22.
Congratulat ions to Milano seniors Andres Ruelas, who was also a state qualifier last year; Ge r a ld D y k e s , who medaled at the state competition last year; and Daniel Frei.
The Eagles are coached by former Tiger Nick Morehead.
Individual results:
• Dykes came in first place in his weight class with a total of 1,350 pounds.
• Ruelas placed first in his weight class with a total of 1,575 pounds. He also set a regional record in squat (650 pounds) and bench (425 pounds). Ruelas also received recognition for Most Outstanding Squat, Bench and Lifter, all on the Heavy Platform.
• Frei placed second in the Super Heavy Weight with a total of 1,230 pounds.
