The now 3-2 Milano Eagles lost their game Friday night against private school Geneva out of Boerne. This was a home game for the Eagles. The final score was Geneva 49, Milano 28.
The Eagles had been on a roll but have now dropped two in a row. They were outscored in the first half of last Friday’s grid iron action 42-7. The second half was however almost all Milano as the Eagle defense kept Geneva to just seven points.
Geneva star ted this night by airing it out in the first quarter. They scored three touchdowns by putting the ball in the air. Making the score Geneva 21, Milano 0.
Milano junior running back Gabe Sanders ran nine yards into the end zone for an Eagle touchdown in the second quarter. Eagle kicker Andres Ruelas made the extra point and the score was now Geneva 21, Milano 7.
Geneva came back and scored three more times before the half ended. This time they punched the ball into the end zone on dashes of four yards, 15 yards and six yards. All their extra point attempts were good and they took a commanding lead by halftime, 42-7.
The v isiting Geneva Eagles scored once in the second half by rushing 17 yards. Their kicker was on his mark with the extra point, making the score Geneva 49, Milano 7.
The fourth quarter was almost all Milano’s. Eagle running back Sanders scored again on an impressive 45-yard run into the end zone. Then junior running back Abram Castaneda pushed 12 yards for a touchdown.
Milano also scored on a rare passing play as well in the last quarter. Sophomore tight end Jackson Reyes caught a well thrown ball for an 18-yard touchdown. The extra points were good on all three touchdowns.
The final was Geneva Eagles 49, Milano Eagles 28.
