In what was the debut for both teams’ head coaches, it was Valley Mills coach Robert Featherston who came out on top over Milano’s Nick Morehead 41-0 in the season opener Friday at Milano’s home stadium.
The Eagles were led by running back Andres Ruelas who had 77 yards on 10 carries, accounting for all but 17 of the Maroon-and-Gold’s total offensive yards.
Other leading rushers for Milano were Ethan Gordon, who had 15 yards on five carries and Alan Maldonado, who had eight yards on seven carries.
Quarterback Jayce was one-of-four for 17 yards.
HUNTSVILLE—On Friday, MHS hits the road for the first time this season to face Huntsville’s Alpha Omega Academy, a TAPPS Division IV school that beat Fort Worth’s Calvarly Christian 55-6 in their season opener this past Friday.
Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
