IOL A—The Mi l a no Eagles had a long bus ride home from Iola last Friday night. The Bulldogs beat the Eagles 40-7. The Eagles fell to 4-3 for the season and 1-1 in district play.
Iola came out ready to win the game on both sides of the ball. Iola scored twice in the first quarter and once in the second making the score at halftime, Iola 22, Milano 0.
The Bulldogs kept the Eagles flying low, allowing them to only score once and that was in the third quarter. This lone touchdown came on a 25-yard pass from Milano junior quarterback Anthony Valadez to freshman running back Jesus Reyes. Junior kicker Andres Ruelas made the extra point. This made the score Bulldogs 22, Eagles 7.
It was then all Iola until the end of the game. The Bulldogs scored three more times passing and running into the end zones. The final score was Iola 40, Milano 7.
Milano Head Football Coach said, “This was a tough one. We got ourselves in a hole and we couldn’t get out of it. We could not find any offensive rhythm. We asked a lot of our quarterback and Anthony Valadez really stepped up.”
COMING UP— The Eagles play the Bremond Tigers—4-3 over all and 1-1 in district—at home this week. Kick off is 7 p.m.
