Milano’s boys struggled against Granger, unable to stop the Lions’ Johnny Ryder and Thomas Rhode, who combined for 41 points in their 64-56 win over the Eagles on Friday night at the GHS Gymnasium.

MHS had trouble early on, as the Lions took a 33-18 lead at halftime with Rhode scoring 12 of his 16 points in the second quarter.

The Eagles improved in the second half, with sophomore Jayce Todd scoring 16 of their 19 points for the quarter.

Todd and Ethan Gordon combined for a total of four three-pointers during the third.

Milano scored another 19 in the fourth. Unlike the third where it was primarily Todd, five different players scored.

Layne Telg had six, Weston Avrett had five, Hayden Weaver had three, Todd had three and Drew Demeritt hit two free throws.

Despite outscoring the Lions for the second consecutive quarter, they received their first district loss.
