The Milano volleyball team fell to 2-4 on the season after being defeated in both of their matchups this past week. On Saturday, The Lady Eagles fell to the Thrall Lady Tigers in three sets 20-25, 11-25, 22-25. McKenna Robertson led the Lady Eagles with 14 kills. Peyton Robertson led the team in assist with 14, while Karyme Santana led the team in digs with five.
On Tuesday, the Lady Eagles came up short against the Granger Lady Lions. The Eagles lost in three sets 15-25, 20-25 and 14-25. McKenna Robertson led the Lady Eagles with seven kills, while Peyton Robertson led the team in assist with eight. The sisters tied to lead the team in digs with nine a piece.
With only one varsity player returning from last year’s team, MHS Athletic Director and Head Volleyball Coach Wendy King says she knew it would be a long road for the Lady Eagles to get where they need to be.
“There have been obstacles in front us and the girls have fought through them all,” King said. “The girls are learning and working on the mental side of the game trying to stay positive and improve on leadership skills. I am having fun and I hope they are too.”
The Lady Eagles will look to get back in the win column as they will face the Buckholts Lady Badgers on Saturday at Buckholts.
