Nine Lady Tiger hoopsters win district awards
Last week, RHS junior Ciara Miles was picked by 19-3A girls basketball coaches to be a first team all-district selection while senior teammates Saige Robertson and Mijah Crawford were voted on to the second team.
Honorable mentions were T’Niyah Miles, Jazalle Dunn and Trinity Hurd. Academic all-district selections are Robertson, Crawford, Dunn, Hurd, both Miles’ sisters, Grace Patton, Alyssa Thompson and Ali Lay.
The Lady Tigers went from finishing 4-8 last winter to finishing 7-7 under new head coach Danielle Froggatt, who came to Rockdale after three years as the head coach at Class 6A New Caney. Rockdale’s season came down to a do-or-die game on Feb. 7 with Rogers t o s ee w hich t eam g ot the district’s fourth and final playoff spot. The Lady Tigers fell 49-45 to the other RHS, but Froggatt admired her team’s hard work and fight throughout the year.
