In 14 seasons with the big blue, Jeff Miller is the winningest coach in Tiger history currently holding a record of 99-58, with 11 playoff appearances, two-district championships and one Class 3A Division I state championship.

After defeating the Giddings Buffaloes 48-24 this past Friday night for his 99th win as a Rockdale Tiger, Jeff Miller has the chance to earn his 100th win this Friday, a milestone never reached by a Tiger coach.

“I’ve been here a long time and I’ve had some great players and some great teams,” Miller told the Reporter. “If you’re somewhere long enough and have all that, stuff like this will happen.

“It really is pretty neat but number one-hundred won’t be anymore different than number fifth or one-fifty or whatever. I hope we get it this week so we start the season 2-0.”

If the Tigers defeat the Caldwell Hornets on Friday night at Tiger Stadium, the victory will come almost 13 years to the day of his first ever win as Tiger head coach on Friday, Sept. 1, 2006 when Rockdale took down theGonzales Apaches 30-7 on the road led by now Hillsboro assistant coach Kortlin White’s 150 yards.

Miller broke Fred Johnson’s record of 70 wins on Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, when he got his 70 victory in an RHS win over Academy, 56-13.

Miller and Johnson are the only two RHS coaches to win a state grid title.
