Following the conclusion of Milano’s playoff run last weekend, District 27-2A picks were announced by Milano and Thorndale ISD on Facebook.
Milano’s Jayce Todd was named the league’s Most Valuable Player, while teammate Layne Telg was named the Offensive Player of the Year.
MHS junior Gael Alcala earned Sixth Man of the Year honors.
First team selections from the Eagles were Bryson Richards and Weston Avrett and Ethan Gordon was picked for the second team. Mykal Hutson and Greg Storey were honorable mentions. Alcala and Hutson were also academic all-district picks.
THORNDALE—For the Bulldogs, Dereck Cauble was named Defensive Player of the Year.
First team picks were Branson McCoy, Chance Betak and Blake Roberts. Kaden Kovar was a second team selection and Dean Johnson and Raymond Avalos were honorable mentions.
Johnson, Cauble, McCoy, Betak, Robertson, Kovar, Colton Merryman and Jaden Clawson each earned academic all-district honors.
