Rockdale senior powerlifters Jesenia Navarro and Mackenzie Musto have qualified for the Region III meet in Dublin on March 5.

Navarro won the 114-pound division squatting 255 pounds, bench pressing 110 and hitting a dead lift of 270 for a total of 635 pounds.

According to the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association’s rulebook, girls in the 114-pound division automatically qualify for regionals if they lift a minimum total of 635 pounds.

Musto, who won the 132-pound division, qualified with a squat of 275, bench press of 165 and a dead lift of 280 for a total 0f 720, meeting the automatic qualifier requirements for her respective weight class.

Coach Ryan Montalvo anticipated that Navarro would more than likely qualify for regionals during Thursday’s meet in Killeen.
