Lady Tiger powerlifter Mackenzie Musto secured her third straight trip to the Region II powerlifting meet at the Elgin Wildcat Invitational on Saturday,
Musto surpassed a total lifted weight of 720 pounds, which automatically qualifies any women powerlifters in the 132-pound weight class.
She finished the meet in fourth with a squat of 260, bench-press of 175 and dead lift of 295 for a total of 730. The RHS is junior is also the third-ranked lifter in the region only trailing Cameron’s Selene Vargas and Lago Vista’s Skylar Stefka.
Jesenia Navarro was also a top lifter, placing third in the 114-class with a squat of 220, bench of 105 and dead lift of 240 for a total of 565.
Jena Locklin, also placed fourth in the 114-class with a 280, 130 and 285 for a total of 695.

TIGERS–For the Tigers, Nathan Jeter won a silver medal after dropping a pound and a half to compete in the 114 class.
Jeter squatted 270, benched 155 and dead lifted 317 for a total of 740.
Kevin Liu also placed high, rounding out the top four 132 pound lifters with a total weight of 795.
Chris Reyes and Gavin Aguilar both finished fifth in the 198 and 275 class respectively.

Ty Mayberry, Colton Ellis and Gabriel Goodman also competed but all three were bounced out or disqualifi ed.
Coach Jacob Campsey said they had 24 kids compete at the Wildcat Invitational which was as many or more than all the other programs there, which included College Station High School, Bastrop and Cedar Creek.
REGIONALS–With Musto qualifying, Rock-dale still has several other lifters in the hunt to make the top eight since that’s the other way powerlifters can advance to regionals.
Navarro is ranked fifth in the 114 while Locklin is ranked seventh in 148.
Haven Jimenez is also seventh overall but in the
181.
Whitley Boyd and Lisbett Boussart are on the fringe of qualifying as they are ranked 12th and 13th.
For the boys, Jeter is ranked second in 114 while also being ranked sixth in the 123 if his weight goes back up.
Navarro is still close at ninth in the 132 despite not competing the last two weeks.
Gavin Aguilar is also looking to get in at ninth in the 275 while Kevin Liu and Caden Young sit at 11th and 12th in the 132.
Both Rockdale power-lifting teams have the next three weeks off before heading to Salado on Thursday, Feb. 20.
