On Monday, the University Intescholastic League released the new enrollment figures for each division for the 2020 and 2021 football seasons.
Class 3A-I, Rockdale’s division, changed from 335-504 in 2018 to 350-514 this week.
With an enrollment of 443 as of Friday, Oct. 25, RHS never considered moving and are expected to see many of the same faces next season.
Carl Padilla, a poller for
Texas Football Magazine
who predicts how the UIL will re-district every alignment, believes the Tigers, Cameron, Academy, Troy and Lago Vista will stay in District 10-3A-I.
Jarrell and Manor New Tech are expected to make the move to 4A-II with MNT seeing their student population increase from 435 to 522 and Jarrell growing in size from 462 to 519.
Lago Vista also grew rapidly from 446 to 500 over the last two years.
Although the district is losing two programs, Padilla thinks that 10-3A-I will have eight teams next season.
He thinks Class 3A-II Florence will move up after-being above the 335 limit in October’s snapshot and Waco area school Lorena will move down from 4A-II after going from 577 to 503.
Padilla also predicted that the district will reach more into the Hill Country with Llano coming down from Class 4A-II to join the district.
MILANO–After being the smallest school by 38 students in District 13-2A-I, MHS will move down to 2A-II.
Milano’s enrollment figure was 158, down from 174 in the fall of 2018.
The new cutoff places them right in the top end of 2A-II where schools with enrollments between 105 and 165.5 participate.
The Eagles could join 13-2A-II where they would be a central location among Bremond, Granger, Iola, Chilton and Bartlett.
THORNDALE–The Bulldogs will stay put, only going from 212 to 213 students between snapshots.
The new Class 2A-I range is 165.5-229 students, keeping THS as one of the bigger schools in the division.
According to Padilla, he expects District 13-2A-I to go from seven to five schools with Rosebud-Lott, Hearne, Thrall and Holland.
Milano is dropping down and Marlin is slated to join other Waco area schools within Class 2A-I.
