Jeff Miller has named Ethan Noel as the Tigers’ new offensive coordinator.
Noel replaces Brandon Houston who left to become the new head coach at Buffalo.
Noel has never been a coordinator before and has been at Rockdale for three years after coming over from Academy.
Noel was the Tigers head basketball coach for one season and has been the head freshman football coach.
“I have been grooming him for this for three years,” Miller said. “I thought it was important to stay in-house. We all built this together.”
Miller has also hired John Hooser as head baseball coach to replace Jacob McMurtry, who left after two seasons as coach.
Hooser is a Bartlett native and has been the head baseball coach at Cypress Ridge high school near Houston for the past three years.
Hooser has also coached at Tyler, Somerville, Valley Mills and Memphis.
“He’s going to be a good one,” Miller said.
Miller has also reached into his past and has given former Tiger Ethan Brinkley his first coaching job.
Brinkley was the Tigers’ starting quarterback for three years from 2010-2012 and is still the school’s all-time leading passer with 4,616 yards and holds several other school records.
Brinkley went on to start at quarterback for West Texas A&M.
Brinkley was also first-team All-State in baseball.
Miller also announced that head basketball coach Mark Nickols has resigned to take an assistant’s position at Cleburne.
Nickols was the head basketball coach for two seasons and posted a 17-41 mark.
