Overcoming Obstacles

Last Thursday RISD students got to hear American Ninja Warrior Jared Greer encourage them about how to overcome the many obstacles of life.

Greer has been a competitor on this sports entertainment reality show a number of times.

He uses his experience on the television show to go to communities like Rockdale and set up high-tech interactive obstacle courses on football fields that allow junior and senior high students to run through the course having a lot of fun.

Not only is Greer a professional athlete and television reality star but he also operates a ministry called Overcoming Obstacles.

On Thursday night at Rockdale’s Tiger Stadium, the community got the opportunity to hear Greer share a gospel message in hopes of reaching teens for Christ.

This free event was brought to Rockdale by Meadowbrook Baptist Church and the Milam Baptist Association but was a collaborative effort that included the First Baptist Church of Rockdale and Cameron.

Meadowbrook Pastor Steve Ammons said, “Events like this are a fun way to show how much God loves all people, even in Milam County.”

“We know the struggles kids have in 2025,” he continued. “God is ready to fight for them if they would just believe in Him.”

Pastor Ammons reported about 150 were in attendance and was grateful for the support of Rockdale Independent School District.
