The Lady Eagles dropped out of the District 2A playoffs with a loss to the Snook Blue Jays 20-25, 24-26, 20-25, on Monday evening at the Caldwell High School gym.

Milano, who finished third place in district 25-2A, were matched with a Snook team that made an appearance in the regional finals last season. In addition to coming off a strong season, Snook battled the Burton Lady Panthers, the first place team from district 26-2A, and were beaten in the regional final.

After losing the first set, Milano had the lead in the second set, but were unable to turn a 24-23 lead into a tied game. The Lady Eagles lost the second set 24-26, and lost the final set of their season 20-25.

“We thought we’d won the second game,” said Wendy King, Milano High School head volleyball coach and athletic director. “But when we learned a set-winning point didn’t go our way, the air kind of went out of our sails. I’m still really our team, and the way our leaders stepped up this year.”
