Corey Preusse and Michael Herzog were named Thorndale High School athletes of the year at the school’s banquet held last Tuesday.
Preusse was an all-district tight end and All-Centex deep snapper for the Bulldogs this past fall. He was also the District 27-2A offensive player of the year for the THS baseball team and a silver medalist in the shot put and discus at the state track meet earlier this month.
Herzog was the state champion in the triple jump and was an all-district defensive back. The sophomore was also a member of the varsity basketball and baseball team.
Landry Laywell was named female athlete of the year. She won back-to-back state singles championship titles, was a regional qualifier in the 3200 meter race, a starter on the varsity basketball team and a member of the state semi-finalist volleyball team. She will continue to compete at the Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene.
