Lady Tiger volleyball opened district early Friday evening with a 25-11, 17-25, 15-25 loss to Lexington, Texas Girls Coaches Association’’s 21st-ranked team in Class 3A.
RHS head coach Kelsey Hudson said her team had their moments but that consistency is essential to beating a team as strong as the Lady Eagles.
“I think we played well in spurts and not as well in others.
“To beat a team like Lexington we have to play consistently thoughout the match. That is what we’re working on every practice and every game.”
The Blue-and-Gold had one of those spurts in the final set, when they bounced back from a sixpoint deficit to tie the game at 13. The run was fueled defense that enabled junior Yolianna Castillo to set up Julie Bartsch and sisters Haven and Halle Jimenez for point-winning kills.

THIS WEEK–RHS traveled to Caldwell Tuesday evening after press time.
The Lady Tigers will stay on the road Friday as well when they face the Florence Lady Buffs who are coached by Rockdale native Morgan Laughlin.
Game time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
