Rockdale High School held their annual fall banquet at the RJH Commons on Wednesday evening where junior Kesean Raven was named the most valuable for the 2019 Rockdale Tiger football team.

“This is a guy that never comes off the field for us.” said RHS head coach and athletic director Jeff Miller.

Raven led the Tigers in receiving yards this season with 850 yards on 48 receptions and 11 touchdowns. In the backfield, he had 148 yards on 24 carries and a TD. At defensive back, he had 35 tackles.

Four-star recruit Cam’Ron Valdez was awarded the Offensive Player of the Year after ending the season with 1,697 rushing yards, which is the second most in Tiger history. Christian Briggs was named defensive MVP after leading Rockdale with 81 tackles during the regular season.

Other football award winners were: Ross Loth (receiver); Cole Rickman and Kaden Kruse (offensive linemen); Jace Robinson (offensive back); Chase Mayfied and Drayton Castaneda (linebackers); Ty Mayberry and Bruce May-field (defensive linemen); Landon Towns (secondary).

For volleyball, head coach Kelsey Hudson named Payton Miller the most valuable player after her classmate Andrea Salazar was named the Defensive MVP and freshman Yolianna Castillo was the Offensive Player of the Year.

Sophomore state qualifier Ivanna Luna and junior Jesenia Navarro were named MVP’s for the girls cross country team by head coach Cheryl Meuth.

Meuth also named junior Albert Silva and freshman Chris Perez as Boys MVPs.

RISD athletic trainer Eugene Beaver also named six award winners for three different honors.

Jennifer Langford and Mallory McDaniel were named Newcomer of the Year and seniors Briana David and Aaliyah Nelson were both crowned as Co-Athletic Trainer of the Year.

A.J. Hicks and Riley Henderson were given the Unsung Hero award for their all around commitment.
