After grinding their way through the district tournament a week earlier, Rockdale High School tennis players Yolianna Castillo and Mason Willard competed in the mixed doubles division of the Region III Tournament in College Station on Monday.
The pair battled against District 24-3A champions Abby Hudgins and Maddox Crist of East Bernard, winning the first set 6-3. However, the team from EBHS was the one that survived and advanced, winning the final two sets 6-2, 6-2.
Despite the ending, RHS tennis coach Melanie Seltzer said all of their games were close and that the match lasted around two and a half hours.
