The Rockdale Tigers baseball team traveled to Rosebud-Lott last week to scrimmage against the Cougars.
Former Tiger and Head Baseball Coach Austin Caf fey said, “ We a re showing growth, which is important for us at this stage in the season. I was pleased with our guys, they implemented some of the things we had emphasized in practice. We were more consistent defensively and made a lot of routine plays.”
The Tigers have one more scrimmage scheduled before the season starts. They will travel to Mumford for a game at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Lady Tigers
The Rockdale Lady Tigers softball team has been busy getting ready for the upcoming season that starts at home on Friday against the BVCHEA Home School Mustangs out of Bryan. Game time is 6 p.m. Then on Tuesday, Feb. 20, they hit the road to face the Granger Lions. This game starts at 6:30 p.m.
Head Softball Coach Brock Miller said, “The girls are progressing adequately. We are a young team. To put the best players on the field some are in new positions. We look forward to seeing our core players Izabella Delgadillo, Laylee Lankford and Jacie Hartley provide offensive leadership on the field.”
“Freshman pitcher Emma Miller is an incredible addition not only to our pitching staf f but also our hitting lineup,” Coach Miller added. “We look forward to a much improved level of competitiveness the Lady Tigers have not shown in awhile.”
