Rockdale’s individual first and second place finishes helped the boys’ golf team secure a gold medal at the Navasota Rattler Invitational Golf Tournament last weekend.
After day one the boys were in second place, one shot behind Brenham on the 6,922-yard Pecan Lakes Golf Club course. On day two they came back and improved by eight shots as a team to take first place scoring 357-349=706, according to Head Golf Coach Ethan Noel.
Brady Nelson shot 86 on the first day and 78 the second on the par 72 course to win first with Ross Loth behind him with an 81 and 84 for second place. Brayden Burns shot 92-90; Doss Hasselbach 98-97 and Jake Hasselbach 110-104.
Lady Tigers – Eve King finished in sixth place individually for the Lady Tigers by chopping strokes off her first day score, going from 98 to 86. All three girls improved from day one to two, according to Noel. Payton Miller 110-100 and Gracey Burns 115-114
Both teams will have hosted the Rockdale tournament at the Rockdale Country Club on Wednesday.
