Just as the Tigers were closing the gap in the second quarter, Rogers erased Rockdale’s 7-2 run to take a 37-26 lead going into halftime.

The Eagles sustained this lead and ultimately won the game 61-42.

Head coach Marcus McNeil says the loss comes down to their habits.

“It just boils down to consistency,” he said after the game. “In practice, we practice like it’s a game and we lose concentration in practice and sometimes it shows in the game.

“We didn’t have any ball movement and when we attacked we didn’t find the open man on the weak side and we allowed to them to go wherever they wanted in the open court.”

Mekhi Crawford led RHS with 14 and Ross Loth ended the night with nine.

THIS WEEK–The Tigers played in Franklin on Tuesday after press time and go across the river on Friday to take on rival Cameron.

The Tigers are 1-10 in district play.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

LADY TIGERS–

Rockdale wrapped up their 2019-2020 season on Tuesday evening with a 67-34 loss to Franklin.

According to assistant coach Brian Thomas, the district leading Lady Lions hit multiple three-pointers and RHS didn’t have enough offense to recover.

In what was their final high school basketball game, Andrea Salazar reached double digits with 10 points and Payton Miller had seven.

This was also the final game for senior Amajahnae Valdez.

“I love these girls,” said head coach Meredith Caffey last week. “They’ve played really hard for me and I couldn’t have asked for a better group of seniors to go through my second year with.

“I hope they each do something really good with their lives.”

FRIDAY–On Friday, the Lady Tigers fell 48-30 to Rogers in a game where Rockdale had trouble catching up after an explosive second quarter by Rogers.

Salazar led with 13 and Miller had 10. Freshman Julie Bartsch had four.

RHS finishes the season with a record of 4-10.

Although they missed the playoffs, the number of returnees indicates promise for Caffey.

Saige Robertson and Julie Bartsch are ninth graders who saw a lot of playing time towards the end of the season as well as sophomore Karlee Marburger who saw increased minutes over the last couple of weeks.

Juniors Anna Harmon and Miah Beckwith also return to the floor next season.
