RHS will face another tough test this Friday as the 3-0 Bellville Brahmas come to town.

“Bellville will be the best team we have played this season by far,” RHS Head Coach Jacob Campsey said. “That’s no disrespect to Lexington, but Bellville is just a different animal. It’s going to be a great test for us.”

ROCKDALE—RHS is coming off a tough loss against the Lexington Eagles in a 35-34 thriller. The Tigers got off to a slow start but picked things up in the fourth quarter before a failed two-point conversion ended the game. The loss caused Rockdale to fall from No. 6 to No. 8 in the texasfootball.com 3A Division 1 rankings.

The offense continued to be explosive earning 322 total yards on the day. The Tiger defense will need to improve against the run as the Lexington offense garnered 284 rushing yards against them last week.

Players to watch: Cam’ron Valdez continued his stellar season going for 121 rushing yards and two touchdowns against Lexington. Quarterback Kobe Mitchell showed his dualthreat ability recording 133 passing yards, 64 rushing yards, and three touchdowns. Linebacker Chase Mayfield is averaging 10 tackles per game and will be a key piece for Rockdale’s defense.

BELLVILLE—The Bellville Brahmas come into Friday’s contest ranked 7th in the texasfootball.com 4A Division II standings. The Brahmas come in the game with a lot of momentum after handling the Stafford Spartans 50-29. No team has found an answer for stopping the Brahma offense that’s averaged 46 points in their first three games.

Players to watch: The Brahmas have a two-headed monster at running back with Robert Briggs and Richard Reese. Briggs totaled 97 rushing yards on only nine carries, 31 receiving yards and four touchdowns against Stafford. Briggs is a weapon on special teams as well scoring an 85-yard kick return touchdown last Friday. Reese totaled 164 rushing yards on 20 carries, 20 receiving yards and two touchdowns against the Spartans.

Outside linebacker Garrett Babylon made 14 tackles in last week’s contest. The senior averages 13 tackles per game.
