Rockdale met up with undefeated Cameron on Monday night at Tiger Stadium, where the two battled in a scoreless game for much of the time.

The Lady Tigers held their own for much of the match, getting the ball down to their side of the field away from Cameron strikers and saw many opportunities to score. However, with 19:11 left in the match, the Lady Yoe broke that drought with a breakaway goal by Ja’Kerra Holt to make it 1-0.

RHS fought back, but couldn’t score again before Cameron’s Julie Preiser sealed a Lady Yoe 2-0 victory with two minutes left in the game.

Although disappointed with losing, Lady Tiger head coach Shirley Lozano was through the moon with how her team performed. For Lozano and the

For Lozano and the Lady Tigers, this was the first of four district games this week. They face Smithville on Tuesday after press time, and hit the road on Thursday to face Caldwell, and return to Tiger Stadium Friday to face Giddings for the second time this season.

Caldwell hasn’t won a game and tied with Rockdale when they faced each other at the Madisonville Tournament in January.

Giddings is the only other undefeated team in their district besides Cameron and beat the Lady Tigers in their first meeting on Feb. 9.

TIGERS—Following the girls’ game, Rockdale faced Smithville, falling to the other Tigers 2-1.

RHS had a rough time against a tall and fast SHS squad that scored towards the end of the first half to make it 1-0.

Smithville padded their lead in the second with another goal, which made the game look all but over.

That changed when striker Jose Tenorio scored with close to nine minutes left in the game to make it 2-1.

The Blue-and-Gold had another chance to score on a penalty kick with about two minutes left, but they missed it, getting their third loss in district play and falling to 3-3.

Tiger head coach Gilberto Rodriguez referred to the loss at devastating, especially since victory was as in reach as it was.

Unlike the Lady Tigers, the boys only play once more this week when they travel to La Grange on Friday.

Rockdale struggled against the undefeated Leopards in their match earlier this month.

The kick-off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
