After starting off the season hot with a 6-2 record, the Lady Tigers ran into some tough competion this past weekend at the Bastrop Tournament.

RHS fell to Round Rock’s Cedar Ridge High School 15-25, 10-25 and host Bastrop 16-25, 30-28, 15-25.

They also lost to Navarro 11-25, 7-25 and Class 5A Victoria West in a match where the score wasn’t made available as of press time.

THRALL—The Lady Tigers also lost to Thrall, Texas Girls Coaches Association’s seventh-ranked team in Class 2A, in three straight sets.

THIS WEEK—The Blueand-Gold stay at home this weekend with games Thursday and Saturday at their tournament. The tourney, which also includes Milam County schools Milano and Thorndale will have three different pools. Rockdale is in Pool 1 with Georgetown Gateway, Austin’s Brentwood Christian and Holland.

MILANO—Over the weekend, the Lady Eagle volleyball team overcame two Thursday losses in pool play to finish second at the Rosebud-Lott Tournament.

They started off Saturday with a 25-18,25-15 win over Marlin before playing Mumford, Class 2A’s sixth-ranked school, in a close match that ended with the Lady Mustangs winning 24-26, 23-25. MHS ended the day with a loss to Class 2A’s second-ranked Bosqueville 13-25, 21-25.

Away from tournament play, Milano had a rematch in Mumford that went five sets with the ranked squad coming out on top once again 25-19, 25-13, 14-25, 14-25, 9-15.

Milano shook off Friday’s loss on Saturday with two straight wins beating Holland 25-15, 20-25, 25-22 and Riesel 25-22, 25-20.

They lost in their third and final match 11-25, 14-25 to Bosqueville.

THIS WEEK—Milano had a rematch with Bosqueville Tuesday after press time and play Thursday and Saturday in Rockdale. Thursday game times are listed on the front page. Saturday games are dependent on Thursday results.

THORNDALE—Lady Bulldog volleyball didn’t partake in any tournament action this weekend, but hosted Rockdale after press time Tuesday and also plays in Rockdale this weekend.
