Rockdale’s junior varsity got their second straight win with a 40-0 shutout over Hyde Park Baptist in West Austin on Thursday night.
Angel Lopez got the Tigers on the scoreboard in the first quarter with an 18-yard touchdown run. The conversion failed but the Tigers led 6-0 going into the second quarter.
Robert Owens scored next on a 33-yard TD run in the second. Tucker Prestridge scored later in the quarter on a two-yard run. Creek Windham ran in the PAT to put the Tigers up 14-0 at halftime.
In the third, Owens was back in the endzone after returning an interception for a 65-yard touchdown. He scored once more in the fourth on a five-yard run. Nathan Thomas ran in a three-yard PAT afterwards to put Rockdale up 34-0.
Thomas scored the final Tiger points of the night when he scored on a 16-yard run. The Tigers beat the Panthers 40-0.
According to coach Bart Gibbs, offensive standouts were La Monte Robinson, Hayden Aguilar, Gavin Aguilar and Lane Rickman.
On defense, Albert Silva, Cade Pantaleon, Za’Kori Yanes, Chris Huff, Landen Pounders, Hayden Aguilar and Thomas were the standouts that evening.
JV2–Rockdale’s junior varsity 2 lost 30-0 to A&M Consolidated’s JV White on Thursday night in the blue-and-gold’s home debut.
Gary Essix led the College Station school with three touchdowns.
According to coach David Monroe, offensive standouts for Rockdale were Davin Schriver, Fernando Valdivia and Miles Grear. Top defenders were Dashawn McBride, Miguel Reyes, Fernando Ramirez.
8A–The Tigers staged a comeback touchdownw in the eighth grade team’s 22-22 season opener against Bell-ville.
After Bellville went up 22-0 in the second quarter, Blaydn Barcak found Wyatt Windham open for a 15-yard TD, the two teamed up for a successful PAT.
Barcak and Windham teamed up once more in the game for a 45-yard TD pass. Kemar Spencer caught the PAT pass to make the game 22-16 going into the fourth.
Barcak tied the game in the fourth on an eight-yard run, but was stopped on for the go-ahead conversion when he was sacked, ending the game 22-22.
According to coach Eric Willard, offensive standouts were Isaiah Sauls, Noah Pastrano, Dominique Clark. Top defenders were Chad David, Cruz San Migel and Sterling Prazak.
8/7B–Bellville beats Tigers 22-0. Offensive standouts were Kayden Land, Cooper Huff and defensive standouts were Francisco Vasquez and Cooper Prestridge.
7A–Bellville beat RJH 36-14. Standouts on offense were Raydn Hamilton and Oscar Rodriguez. Defenders were Klay Eschberger and A.J. Sandoval.
