On Thursday evening, the Rockdale junior varsity football team fell 12-0 to Mason, a team that traveled 145 miles earlier that day to face the Tigers.

The visiting Punchers scored their first TD of the game on a 15-yard run in the first quarter. MHS failed to convert the point-after-touchdown (PAT) and led 6-0 at halftime.

Mason scored again in the third when Tristin Keller caught a 35-yard pass that she ran down the left side of the field for a touchdown. The PAT after failed but MHS held on to beat the Tigers 12-0.

According to coach Bart Gibbs, offensive standouts were Amarion Butler, Scott Penny, Hayden Aguilar and Gavin Aguilar. Top defensive players were Cade Pantaleon, Albert Silva and Luke Daffler. Tucker Prestridge and Za-Kori Yanes also led Rockdale on defense with fumble recoveries during the game.

The RHS JV is 2-3 on the season.

Both them and Rock-dale’s JV2 travel to Lago Vista on Thursday to play the Vikings.

Kickoff begins at 5 p.m., for JV2 and 6:30 p.m., for the junior varsity.

8A–Rockdale’s eighth grade “A” team defeated Bur-net on the road 38-14 on Thursday.

RJH got an early lead with a fumble recovery by Gerren Carter that he took to the endzone for an 80-yard touchdown.

The Tigers scored again when Blaydn Barcak went halftway across the field for a 50-yard TD run.

In the second, Mason Willard caught a 30-yard pass before Cruz San Migel caught a 15-yard TD pass from Barcak in the second. Rockdale led 18-0 at halftime.

In the third, Kemar Spencer scored his first TD of the game on a 25-yard pass from Barcak.

The Tigers scored twice more in the fourth with two TD runs by Windham in the fourth to win the game 38-14.

According to RJH coach Eric Willard, offensive standouts were Zach Matthews, Noah Pastrano and Madden Montelongo. Defensive standouts were Dominique Clark, San Migel and Chad David, who blocked a punt in the second quarter.

7/8B–The combined team outscored Burnet 16-6 to win 24-14 on Thursday.

Kayden Land scored in the first

Bryson Huff’s 25-yard TD run with help from Jose Tenorio and a 70-yard TD from Huff later in the quarter clinch victory for Rock-dale.

Defensive standouts were Dustin Markert and Cooper Huff, who had two consecutive sacks in the final quarter. Offensive standouts were D’anthony Lockett and Jeremiah Cain.

7A lost 30-18 led by three Timothy Grice touchdown runs that included 28, 57 and 80-yard runs.

Grice also threw a touchdown pass to Radyn Hamilton for 15 yards.

Offensive standouts were Hamilton, Braden Ellis and Daniel Castillo. Top defenders were Ezequiel Castro and Zakobe Anderson.

Rockdale Junior High football teams return back to Tiger Stadium this Thursday to take on the Lago Vista Vikings.

The combined games starts at 5 p.m., with each game following 15 minutes after the conclusion of the prior game.
