On Saturday, Tiger and Lady Tiger powerlifters earned four first place trophies, eight second place trophies and another two RHS lifters finished in third place at the Yegua Iron Invitational in Somerville.

Finishing in first for the Lady Tigers was Jill Eubank, who broke the school’s bench press record for her respective weight class with a lift of 80 pounds. Elizabeth Perry, Shakeria Richards, London Campbell, Caressa San Miguel, Shelly Segovia, Georgina Rodriguez and Piper Pounders placed second in their divisions while junior Tatiana Olivares placed in the top three lifters of her weight class. Shellsea Musto also placed fifth in her class for the girls and Anna Harris ended the day in sixth.

TIGERS—Top lifters for the boys in Blueand-Gold were Darren Carter, who won his division, marking the second straight week he’s won his weight class. Carter’s teammates Miles Grear and Tristan Rupe also earned first place finishes over the weekend.

Wyatt Smith was the runner up in his division while Ryan Luckey placed third and William Davenport landed a top five finish.

REGIONALS—For the Lady Tigers, Eubank and Perry sit in the top eight lifters of their class, meaning they are poised for regionals. Other RHS girls competed at Jewett-Leon High School after press time Wednesday in a Last Chance Qualifier meet. For the Tigers, Carter, Grear, Kevin Liu, Bryce Flowers and Gavin Aguilar are also in a good position to be regional qualifiers next month.

Both teams are scheduled to compete next at Lake Belton on Feb. 24.
