After a week off, the Blue-and-Gold open district play at Tiger Stadium against Franklin, who is Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine’s top-ranked team in Class 3A-I as of Monday.
The Tigers opened the season with 38-29 win in Teague on Aug. 26 before falling in three straight to Class 4A-I Taylor (55-41), state-ranked Lexington (33-18) and Tuscola- Jim Ned (22-21), who is a little more than a yearand- a-half removed from a state championship.
The undefeated Lions are 2021 Class 3A-II state champions who have been ranked number one in their new classification for multiple weeks. FHS is coming off a 69-32 win in their district opener over McGregor, but has been in many close games through the first five weeks of the season including a 22-12 win over Woodville in week one, a 35-23 victory over Diboll in week three and a 41-35 win over Class 4A-II Jasper in week four. Kick-off between the Lions and Tigers is at 7:30 p.m., and tickets can purchased off the Ticket Spicket app on your Smart Phone.
