The Tigers boys’ soccer team started district play last week against the Caldwell Hornets. The game was played on the road and they won 8-0.
Key players were Wilmer Sorto who scored three goals, Daniel Castillo, Eduardo Rivera, Jose Orellana, Diego Garza and Angel Rivera had one goal each.
Next up for the Tigers was a home game against the Taylor Ducks. They were not as successful on a foggy Friday night in Tiger Stadium. Even with a good crowd, the Tigers came up short 1-0.
The Blue & Gold are now 1-1 in district play and 10-32 overall.
COMING UP— Rockdale will travel to Smithville on Friday to take on the 1-1 Tigers. The game starts at 7:15 p.m.
JV— The JV squad beat Caldwell 4-1 with two goals made by Fernando Pacheco and one goal each made by Dominik Gomez and Gerardo Hernandez. This sub varsity squad also lost against Taylor 3-0.
Lady Tigers
The Lady Tigers soccer team went to Caldwell last week to start their district season and they came up short against the Hornets. The final score was 3-1.
The Lady Tigers then played host to the Taylor Ducks last Friday night. The Ducks always play aggressively and they came out on top. The final was 1-0.
This makes the Lady Tigers 0-2 in district games and 2-7-3 overall for the year.
COMING UP— The Lady Tigers will travel to Smithville Friday to take on the 0-0 Smithville Tigers. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
