Facing off with 11-ranked Taylor High School on Friday night, Rockdale had their work cut out for them against an experienced Duck team.
Although the game would end with the Tigers losing 5-0, coach Gilberto Rodriguez said on Facebook following the game that the score wasn’t representative of the effort his team gave.
“I’m proud of our boys’ performance against a top team in the state,” he said. “I know the score reflects other wise, but man we made Taylor work.”
The Lady Tigers were also challenged by Taylor, losing 4-0. Through their first week of district, the Tigers are 0-2 and the Lady Tigers are 1-1 after defeating Caldwell in a penalty shootout. Both teams were off on Tuesday after press time and host Smithville on Friday. The girls take the field at 5:15 p.m., with the boys beginning at 7:15.
