Lady Tiger sof tball scrimmaged in front of their home crowd with Granger this past Friday, giving first-year head coach Brock Miller a chance to see where his team stands.
He came into the evening wanting to see which players are the best fit at each position while also seeing how they handle live pitching. Miller, who was Granger’s head coach last year, said the team is strong on offense, but has room for improvement on defense.
“We’re going to hit the well,” he said. “It’s just a matter of taking advantage of situations as they come up and not being afraid to be aggressive.”
“We need a lot of work on our defense,” he added. “We work on that more than anything in practice because I know we can hit, but the defense is going to a lot more repetition and a lot more scrimmages. But we’ll be alright.” Miller also said that he enjoys work ing with his new group. “We have a young team, it’s fun,’ he said. “Which is the main goal. I want to make it fun for the girls, we want to learn as much as we can along the way and just keep building on that.”
The Blue-and- Gold faced Mumford at the Lady Tiger Softball Field on Tuesday after press time and host Granger again in an official game on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
RHS opens tournament play next weekend in Taylor. Brackets will be posted on The Reporter’s Facebook page as soon as they are made available to the public.
