After falling to Rogers in their final district game, the Lady Tiger volleyball team was forced to face-off with Little River-Academy to see which team would get their district’s final playoff spot.

The two teams played in Rogers early Friday afternoon, where Rockdale prevailed and was able to extend their 2022 season.

But the Lady Tigers had to earn it. In the opening set, they escaped victorious when coming back to win 25-23. Set number two was very similar as they trailed mid-way through, but ultimately went up 2-0 when they won 25-23 in another nail-biter.

The third was hardly different, but RHS couldn’t overcome an early Academy lead. AHS won the third, 25-23. Despite the momentum the Lady Bees earned in set number three, Rockdale was able to put them away with a 25-18 win in set four, earning their third consecutive trip to the playoffs.

FAIRFIELD— After press time on Tuesday evening, Rockdale’s season came to an end when they fell to Fairfield, the Texas Girls Coaches Association’s fourth-ranked team in Class 3A. The final score was 17-25, 12-25, 26-24, 22-25.

This was the final game for seniors Julie Bartsch, Yolianna Castillo, Alyzza Varela, Saige Robertson and McKena Lopez. Bartsch and Castillo were four-year starters ertson for the Lady Tigers. The team has seven underclassmen expected to return next season, including Halle Jimenez, Molly Moody, Hannah McKie, Lacy Lindgren, Kinley Galvan, Molly Moody and Elizabeth Perry.
