HEWITT—Though none of the Tigers were able to qualify for state track in Austin later this month, there were some solid performances at the Class 3A Region III track meet held at Midway Panther Stadium in Hewitt, capping off an overall strong season for the Blue and Gold track program.
Senior Devon Hicks finished the year with this personal best height of 14 feet in the pole vault. That was good enough for third place.
De’Andre Stephens continued to impress in the high jump by tying his best jump of 6’-4”. When you consider that he was the only freshman regional qualifier in the event, his fourth-place finish is even more impressive.
The final race of the season earned the boys’ 4x400 relay team a fourth-place finish as well. The team of Stephens, Tim Grice, Tristan Galvan and Aiden Hirt crossed the tape with their second fastest time of the spring.
Lady Tigers sophomore T’Niyah Miles always finds a way to get into the mix each week. She did so again in Hewitt as she took sixth place in shot put. She managed at least a top 6 finish in every meet this year.
