The RJH boys’ cross-country team had a great showing on Saturday placing second at the Cameron Invitational Meet. The girls’ team placed third and had three runners finish in the top 25 spots.
The meet featured Caldwell, Lexington, Milano, Aggieland Home School, Giddings, Rockdale, Cameron and Brazos. Both the boys and girls were required to run two miles for their races.
For the boys’ team, Aaron Montelongo finished in third place with a time of 12:26. Jesse Montelongo placed fifth at 13:01. Daniel Castillo finished in 13th at 13:52 with Zeb Shrank finished in 14th at 14:02 and Austin Caldwell in 15th at 14:20. Zeke Castro finished in 17th at 14;35. Alex Cooper placed in 18th at 14:37. Wyatt Scott was 28th at 16:01 and Zayd Gwyn was 29th at 16:03. Cesar Rodriguez finished in 31st at 16:19. Jesus Limas placed 35th at 17:15 and Brody Willard was 36th at 17:15.
For the girls’ team, Izabella Delgadillo placed in seventh place with a time of 14:04. Lydia Boriak finished in 10th at 15:36, while Daniella Bocanegra was 14th at 16:43. Jacie Hartley finished in 25th place at 18:52 and Yaretzi Hernandez followed her in 26th at 18:53. Emily Zientek finished in 27th at 18:57.
“The junior high kids did amazing,” RJH Head Coach Cheryl Meuth said. “They put in a lot of work and their top three finish was well deserved.”
The Tigers will look to keep their momentum going at the McGregor Invitational Meet on Saturday.
