Rockdale Junior High’s ACE program has lots to offer both students and their families. Tutorial sessions are available in both the mornings and the afternoons for students to get extra help or catch up on missing work.
Every morning from 7:15 to 8 a.m. we have Rise and Shine Cafe. The students gather together in the library for hot chocolate and social activities.
The afternoons are filled with various academic and enrichment activities for the students to choose from.
Some of the many activities we offer include: arts and crafts, cooking, community service, Girl Scouts, guitar lessons, cajón lessons, dance lessons, cheer prep, American Sign Language, calligraphy writing, jewelry making, science experiments, video games, gym time and construction classes with Perry and Perry Builders.
We are adding to our class options often and use input from students on what types of activities they would like for us to offer. We are currently looking for someone who might be available to work a few days a week by just taking some students to the gym or outside to play. If you are interested, contact Ms. Kaufmann at RJH.
We have also offered many opportunities for parent involvement this year. We have hosted a Tamalada, family game night, family baking night and a “Moms vs. Sons” basketball game. It has been so much fun getting to know the families of our students and watching them interact with each other.
This week begins our collaboration with Di-hard Fitness to offer free workout classes to the community. The classes will be held by fitness instructors from Di-hard Fitness at RJH. The classes will include hip-hop workout on Mondays, yoga on Tuesdays and boot camp on Wednesdays. Classes will start at 6 p.m. You can contact Ms. Kaufmann to sign up or you may sign up in person before class starts.
ACE is also collaborating with the Chamber of Commerce and the Milam County Girl Scouts to put on a community wide Easter Egg Hunt and Carnival. This will take place on April 15th from 10 a.m. to noon.
The Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 10 a.m. and will be followed by various carnival activities including carnival games, races, face painting, egg and bucket decorating, pictures with the Easter Bunny, family yard games and hot dogs.
This is a free event for the community sponsored by the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, ACE Tigers and Milam County Girl Scouts. If you would like to volunteer by working a booth at the carnival, contact Ms. Kaufmann at RJH.
We are looking forward to planning many more fun activities in the future. Feel free to contact us at RJH with any questions about the program or to get your child involved.
