According to Rockdale Junior High boys’ coordinator Eric Willard, Tiger basketball teams ended their 2022-23 season on a high note, winning three of their four games against Rogers on Monday.
The eighth grade “A” left Bell County with the biggest victory, beating the Eagles, 38-22. Josiah Smith scored half of the team’s points with 19. Other leading scorers were Jeramiah Butler with seven and Rachaid Wilson with four. The eighth grade “B” team also won, taking down RMS, 13-7. Zailenn Arvizu and Jameson Cox led the way, with three points apiece. The seventh grade “B” team also defeated the Eagles, winning 16-13 in large part to scoring nine of their points in the second quarter. Reese Cooke-Garza and Alexis Sorto were the team’s leading scorers with five points each. Rockdale Junior High’s seventh grade “A” team was the only group to lose, falling to Rogers, 59-14. Slayde Harris led the Tigers with 10 of the team’s 14 points.
