The RJH boys’ cross-country team had a great showing on Saturday placing second at the McGregor Invitational Meet.

The meet featured Clifton, Rockdale, Robinson, Parkview Christian, Live Oak Classical and Academy. Both the boys and girls were required to run two miles for their races.

For the boys’ team, Aaron Montelongo finished in eighth place with a time of 13:11. Jesse Montelongo placed 11th at 13:23. Zeb Shrhak finished in 12th at 13:34 with Daniel Castillo in 14th at 13:57 and Austin Caldwell in 15th at 13:57. Alex Cooper finished in 16th at 14:04. Wyatt Smith placed in 21st at 14:42. Zayd Gwyn was 23rd at 14:48 and Pedro Tenorio was 24th at 16:13. Cesar Rodriguez finished in 27th at 16:19. Slade Windham placed 36th at 16:48 and Brody Willard was 40th at 17:29.

For the girls’ team, with only four runners, the team did not have enough participants to place in the meet.

Daniella Bocanegra came in ninth place with a time of 15:16. Yaretzi Hernandez finished in 28th at 19:26. Emily Zientek was 30th at 19:31 and Brandilyn Musto followed in 37th at 21:13.

“The junior high kids did amazing,” RJH Head Coach Cheryl Meuth said.

The Tigers will look to keep their momentum going Thursday at Lexington.
