The RJH boys’ cross country team had a great showing last Wednesday placing second at the Lexington Meet. The girls’ team placed seventh and had four runners finish in the top 25 spots.
Both the boys and girls were required to run two miles for their races.
For the boys’ team, Aaron Montelongo finished in second place with a time of 12:44. Jesse Montelongo placed third at 13:01. Zeb Skrhak finished in 13th at 14:02 with Austin Caldwell finishing in 14th at 14:12 and Alex Cooper in 15th at 14:37.
Wyatt Smith finished in 18th at 14:51. Daniel Castillo placed in 19th at 14:57. Pedro Tenorio was 21st at 15:13 and Zayd Gwyn was 26th at 15:26. Cesar Rodriguez finished in 31st at 16:19. Jesus Limas placed 33rd at 16:40. Brody Willard placed 36th at 16:50 and Slade Windham placed 38th at 17:15.
For the girls’ team, Izabella Delgadillo finished in 10th place with a time of 16:14. Daniella Bocanegra finished in 12th at 16:33, while Yaretzi Hernandez was 24th at 19:27.
Emily Zientek finished in 25th place at 19:28 and Jacie Hartley followed her in 28th at 19:47. Tniyah Miles finished in 44th at 22:02, while Brandilyn Musto came in 51st at 22:45
“The junior high kids did amazing,” RJH Head Coach Cheryl Meuth said. “They work hard and get better every week.”
The Tigers will look to have another great showing at the District Meet in Cameron on Saturday.
