Rockdale’s eighth grade “A” team remains undefeated this season with a 14-7 win over Cameron, a team who was also without a loss coming into Thursday’s game at Tiger Stadium.

The middle schoolers took the lead early with a 30-yard touchdown run by Gerren Carter Jr. The conversion attempt failed but the Tigers led 6-0.

In the second, a Wyatt Windham interception stopped the baby Yoe from making their way up the field. Blaydn Barcak then threw a 35-yard pass to Carter Jr., and another pass for 12-yards to Carter Jr. for his second touchdown of the game. Daniel Romero made the extra-point ,which counts for two in junior high.

Later in the quarter, Chad David caused a fumble that was recovered by Sterling Prazak. Barcak threw another long pass for 25 yards caught by Mason Willard. RJH went into halftime up 14-0.

Cameron scored in the third but the Tigers held on to win 14-7. With 3:58 seconds left to go due to lightening which requires everyone off the field for up to 30 minutes. With more lightning and eventual rainfall, officials called the game and the Tigers were awarded the victory.

According to RJH coach Eric Willard, Cruz San Migel, Noah Pastrano and David were the defensive standouts and Carter and Isaiah Sauls stood out on offense.

RJH avenged their 21-13 road loss to the Yoemen in 2018.

The boys are now 4-0-1.

8/7B–The Yoemen defeated Rockdale’s combined team 6-0 with a touchdown in the third quarter.

D’Anthony Richards was a top defender for the Tigers with an interception in the second quarter.

Offensive standouts were Samuel Bell and Kayden Land. Standouts on defense were Francisco Vasquez, Evan Miller and Tyler Thomas.

They now have a record of 3-3.

7A–Seventh grade got their fifth loss of the season with a 41-6 loss to Cameron Timothy Grice scored the only touchdown for the big blue with a 65-yard run in the third.

Standouts on defense with Klay Eschberger and Avery Pizana. Offensive standouts were Grice, Raydn Hamilton and A.J. Sandoval.

The seventh grade “A” team is 1-5 on the season.

JARRELL–All three Rockdale Junior High football teams return to the road this weekend with the combined team taking the field in Jarrell at 5 p.m., followed by the seventh grade “A” team at 6, and the eighth graders at 7.

J V1– Similar to the eighth grade “A” team, the junior varsity’s contest with Cameron was called early due to bad weather.

The Cameron junior varsity won 8-6.

JV2–The JV2 squad played lost 14-6 to A&M Consolidated’s JV White in College Station on Thursday evening.

Alec Silva scored Rock-dale’s only TD on a two-yard run.

They also had huge offensive play from Levar Beck-with who had a 75-yard run and Aiden Hirt, who had a 45-yard reception.

The Tiger defense also had a strong game with two forced fumbles and a blocked punt that led to Silva’s TD.’

Offensive standouts for Rockdale were Beckwith, Hirt, Myler Grier and Raymond Darden. Top defenders were Austin Goodman, Dashaun McBride, Miguel Reyes and Devon Hicks.

Both Rockdale junior varsity teams play at Tiger Stadium this Thursday. JV2 begins at 5 p.m., and JV1 plays at 6:30.
