The RJH Tigers wrapped up their season in muddy fashion in Academy, according to Coach Eric Willard.

Willard said the eighth grade A game “was all about the offense in the first half and defense the second half” in its 12-6 loss to the Bumblebees.

After Academy scored in the first quarter, Rockdale drove the field to answer. Robert Owens completed a 40-yards pass to Scott Penny. Owens ran it in from 10 yard to tie the score at 6-6.

A late touchdown pass by the Bees put Academy up 12-6 at half.

“Both defenses kept the others offense off balance in the second half as neither team scored,” he said. “A late Tiger defensive stand gave Rockdale a chance to tie it at the end of the game, but they came up short as time expired.”

Offensive standouts were linebackers Jose Aboytes, Lane Rickman and Tyler Stewart. Defensive leaders were Joel Scott, Cade Pantaleon and Albert Silva.

7A – The 7A team gained enough traction to pull out a victory against the Bees 12-7, Willard said.

Wyatt Windham scored on the Tigers first possession from 18 yards out to put Rockdale ahead 6-0.

Academy answered on their first possession and added the extra point to go up 7-6 at half.

Tyler Prazak recovered a fumble on the Bees first drive of the second half. The Tigers drove down the field capped off with a 15-yard touchdown pass from Blaydn Barcak to Mason Willard to go up 12-7.

“The Tigers’ defense held strong the rest of the game and the Tigers ran out the clock to seal the win,” he said.

Offensive standouts were: Isaiah Sauls, Noah Pastrano and Madden Montelongo on the offensive line. The Tigers were led defensively by Cruz San Migel, Chad David and Prazak.

7/8B – The B team fought hard in its 14-0 loss to the Bumblebees, but allowed two busted Academy plays to turn into touchdowns that made the difference in the game, Willard said.

Neither team had much luck on offense as both teams struggled against the mud, he said.

Running back Dominique Clark ran for 35 yards to lead the offense. Defensively Ryan Cranford had 5 tackles for loss on the night, he said.
