Rockdale Junior High volleyball teams face Cameron on Monday evening.
The eighth grade “A” came back to beat their rival 25-18, 13-25, 25-10 thanks key serving from Ciara Miles and Ashley Gonzales. According to RJH coach Regan Monroe, Hal-le Jimenez, Chloe Buegeler and Georgia Woodward were also top performers.
8B lost 10-25, 18-25 to the Lady Yoe. Monroe said Lizzy Zinn was a top performer for RJH.
The seventh grade “A” lost in a tiebreaker 25-20, 9-25, 7-15. Rockdale was led by Tanisha McBride’s serving in the first but were not able to overcome hot serving from Cameron for the remainder of the game.
Monroe said Jacie Hartley showed leadership while Kinley Galvan and Scarlett Pantaleon had good hustle.
7B took down the Lady Yoe in a tiebreaker 24-26, 25-20 15-11. Monroe said the team showed great hustle on the court and that Ella Hairston and Cierra Land provided great serving.
TOURNEY–Rockdale Junior hosted their own tournament this past Saturday.
The eighth grade “A” team finished in fourth going 1-2 on the day.
RJH won their opener comfortably 25-10, 25-9 over Georgetown Gateway. According to Monroe, the win due to their big serving they had in the match.
The Lady Tigers lost their second match 24-26, 21-25 to rival Cameron. In the match for third, the Lady Tigers lost 19-25, 20-25 to Rogers.
7A–Unlike their eighth grade counterparts, the seventh grade “A” lost their opening match to Georgetown Gateway 21-25, 23-25. The girls improved in the second match with a 25-15, 25-14 win over Giddings. For the consolation championship, RJH went into a third set tie-breaker with Lexington. This was the second time 7A has been in a tie-breaker with the Lady Eagles this season.
